my story
Born into a family that loves dogs.
From my earliest memories, I was surrounded by dogs. My childhood was spent with three Salukis, one of the oldest known sighthound breeds.
My first dog as an adult was a Labrador mix we named Bo. I honestly think he trained me because I don’t remember teaching him anything!
In the past 32+ years, six more Labradors and now a Golden Retriever, Cameron, have shared their lives with me. I have also fostered many Labradors while volunteering for a dog rescue, been a puppy raiser for a service dog organization, and currently volunteer as a dog walker for our local shelter. I’ve learned so much from all these dogs!
A strong bond between people and their dogs has many benefits, and the pure joy a solid relationship brings to their lives makes all the difference.
Now it is time for me to give back
In 2023, I started my journey to become a Certified Dog Trainer.
I feel it is important that anyone who looks to me for guidance and advice should see that I continually put in the time and effort to acquire the knowledge and expertise of a professional who uses the most up-to-date, science-based methods of compassionate dog training.
I’ve learned from the best!
My course studies with the Victoria Stilwell Academy included animal ethology, canine cognition, canine communication and body language, enrichment activities for dogs and so much more.
I’m also a Family Dog Mediator — a pet professional who has completed specific training and education in assessing and understanding an animal’s L.E.G.S. (Learning – Environment – Genetics – Self). Each of the L.E.G.S. of an animal are a contributing factor of what makes that animal unique and contributes to the animal’s behavior.
